Acne & Acne Scar Treatment
Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. It is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and sometimes cysts. It is caused primarily by skin cells sticking together and clogging hair follicles. Hormones, bacteria, genetics and inflammation also play a large part in its formation. Acne is not caused by dirt or not washing your face, however it is best to wash daily with a mild soap or cleanser. Acne is generally formed on the face but can be on the back neck and chest as well.
Acne typically starts at puberty but may begin in 20 – 35 year old females who never had teenage acne. Control of acne is an on-going process. Usually requiring several medicines, either a topical or oral medicine, possibly a combination can be prescribed. Laser treatments are available to treat acne as well.
Acne Scar Treatment
Acne is one of the most common skin diseases; it affects both adolescents and adults. This skin disease ranges from mild to severe and can lead to scarring if left untreated. Patients often worry about the appearance of acne and the social embarrassment it may cause. There are many effective treatments available depending on the patient and the severity of the disease.
Acne often initially occurs during adolescence. A combination of hormones, genetics, environmental factors, and bacteria are major contributors to this condition. Blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts, which may become swollen and painful, appear on the face, chest, back and shoulders.
Therapies range from the use of topical creams and gels, washes, oral antibiotics or even the use of isotretinoin in more severe cases. There are also lasers and non-laser treatments including IPL, microdermabrasion and specifically designed chemical peels and acne facials to reduce the appearance of acne.
We utilize several different lasers and treatments for Acne and Acne Scars. They are:
and MicroNeedling
